Well, it’s that time of the month again, time for the weeks news roundup!  I managed to get quite a few articles done for PC Perspective this week, including:

New Firmware Offers Performance Boost To Crucial M4 SSDs

Up to a 20% boost in performance for free?  How can one say no??

New Gigabyte Tool Switches SATA Mode In Windows

A nice GUI tool for those that hate the monochrome BIOS look.  Just be careful when using so that you don’t trash your Windows install!

Windows 8 Will Support Mounting ISO and VHD Files Natively

Finally!  Daemon tools and the like are not out of business yet, however.  The upcoming operating system will only mount ISOs, not create them.

High Capacity Corsair SATA 3 Force GT SSDs Now Available

SATA 3 and nice read/write speeds to boot :)

Toshiba Unveils Portege Z830 Ultrabook Series

I really like the aesthetics of this ultrabook!

Bulldozer Infused Trinity APU Specifications Confirmed

A respectable upgrade over the current Llano parts.

Acer Unveils Super Thin Aspire S3 Ultrabook at IFA in Berlin

Yet another ultrabook announcement!  I dont care much for the look of this one though, something about how the hinge design.  Still, it’s very thin and looks sturdy enough.

Windows Media Center Confirmed For Windows 8

I am glad that media center will be sticking around, as I use the extender functionality a lot.  I am really hoping that they are able to speed up the interface for the Xbox 360 though, because it is agonizingly slow at times!

Zotac Releases New ZBOX Nano AD10 Series Mini PCs

Nice little machines :)

And last but not least, Intel announced 16 new 32nm Sandy Bridge parts!

I’m also working on an ultrabook decoder of sorts for PC Perspective, which should go live once we are closer to release and the specifications of some of the models are more concrete.

That’s it for this weeks news roundup!  What sorts of technology news do you most enjoy reading?
